About the Puja
Mangal Puja and Yajna is a sacred Vedic ritual dedicated to Lord Mangal (Mars)—the divine embodiment of courage, strength, determination, and planetary energy.Mangal Puja and Mangal Graha Shanti are performed to remove the inauspicious or weakened influence of Mars in a person’s horoscope, to dispel fear, lethargy, and obstacles in life, and to bring strength, vitality, and positive results.When Mars (Mangal) is in an afflicted position in the horoscope, it can create obstacles in marriage, love relationships, business growth, and other auspicious activities. It can also cause problems related to land, property, and other material matters. To remove these obstacles and attain relief, this Mangal Puja is performed.
Traditional Associations.
Deity: Lord Mangal, the Mars god, is revered as the embodiment of energy, courage, assertiveness, and protective strength. He governs physical vitality, courage, willpower, and protection from enemies or negative influences.
Symbolism: Mangal Dev represents fiery energy, determination, action, protection, and discipline. He removes fear, weakness, conflicts, and obstacles, bringing courage, stability, and confidence into the devotee’s life.
Mantra: om dharni garbh sambhutam vidyut kanti samaprabham , kumaram shakti hastam ch manglam pranmamyaham.Chanting this sacred mantra is believed to invoke Lord Mangal’s blessings for strength, courage, confidence, energy, and protection.
Cultural Significance: Mangal Puja is traditionally viewed as a source of physical and mental strength, courage, protection, and assertiveness. Worshipping Mangal Dev is believed to remove obstacles, enhance willpower, improve discipline, and bring peace, success, and prosperity into the devotee’s life.
Puja Procedure (as per tradition)
The Mangal (Mars) Pooja generally begins with Swasti Vachan and Shanti Path, followed by the Sankalp, where the devotee takes the intention for the puja. This is followed by the recitation of Mangal Stotram and the chanting of Mangal Mantra Japas,hanuman puja . Offerings are then made in the homam, using red flowers, ghee, sesame seeds, jaggery, rice, sandalwood, and other traditional items.During the worship of Mangal Dev, other deities are also honored, including Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi, Kalash Narayana, the Navagrahas, Mahamrityunjaya Rudra, and others. All rituals are performed according to traditional Vedic procedures, including homam (fire rituals), arti, and ceremonial offerings, ensuring that the puja is carried out in a sacred and complete manner.
